

Prasad Devkota (12 November 1909 – 14 September 1959) was a Nepali artist, writer, and author. Respected with the title of Mahakavi (exacting interpretation: The Great Poet or Poet the Great) in Nepali writing, and known as the artist with the brilliant heart. Devkota is all things considered viewed as the extraordinary artist (महाकवि) of Nepali language. He is considered as the best and the most acclaimed adaptable artistic figure of Nepal. A portion of his mainstream works incorporate the top of the line Muna Madan, alongside Sulochana, Kunjini, "Bhikhari", and Shakuntal.

Devkota was conceived the evening of Laxmi Puja on 13 November 1909 (B.S 1966 Kartik 27) to father Teel Madhav Devkota and mother Amar Rajyalakshmi Devi in Thatunati (presently Dhobidhara), Kathmandu.


His dad was a Sanskrit researcher, so he accomplished his essential instruction under the custodianship of his dad. He began his proper instruction at Durbar Secondary School where he considered both Sanskriti grammer and English. In the wake of completing his registration tests from Patna at 17 years old, he sought after Lone wolves of Craftsmanship alongside Lone rangers of law at Tri-Chandra School

graduated from Patna University as a private examinee. His desire of completing his master's degree was although left incomplete due to his family's financial conditions.Only after a decade from his graduation as a lawyer, he started working in Nepal Bhasaanuwad Parishad (Publication Censor Board), where he met famous playwright Balkrishna Sama .At the same time, he also worked as a lecturer at Tri-Chandra College and Padma kanya College.
